I'm sorry, that stupid pun just leaped into my head and I couldn't help myself. I have had a WONDERFUL day of reading, commiserating, commenting, laughing and crying. It's been so exhilarating to read all the things posted by young people, especially those who worked so hard for a different outcome in this election. To all of them, again, I say: YOU didn't "fail" at anything! If anything or anyone 'failed' here, it was most likely old, jaded folks like myself who walked away from this several years back ... I should have been more actively involved at an earlier date. I won't make the same mistake in 2006, however .... I will work to elect someone in my state/county/township that shares MY values ... my respect for individual rights and privacy, my sense of personal responsibility and my dedication to truth and right.

I will also put my money where my mouth is ... as far as I can. Unfortunately, I married a staunch, rigid Republican. The last time I donated money to a political campaign, he threatened to donate three times as much to the Republicans if I ever did it again. There are ways around that, however, which won't compromise my values too much! PayPal is a great thing ... I can donate on that and it usually only shows up on the credit card bill as "PayPal." Then my hubby thinks I just bought some more stuff on eBay and yells at me for that. Does that mean I'm going to hell? Oh well, at least it will be for a GOOD cause, right??

Now, goodnight, all my LJ friends ... new and old. I can't begin to tell you how much better I feel about myself, the 'yutes' of America, my country and the future after today ... this IS a great country, despite what other nations might think after Tuesday. And I have seen its strength, its greatest assets, here today. Thank you ALL!
